Black Poetry

I stumbled upon this breathtaking quote and I had to share it. It stopped me in my tracks and made me somewhat emotional. This poetic quote although brief, is powerful.

You don’t have to be a deep thinker to understand this quote, just common sense.

Paul Dunbar ladies and gentlemen. I cannot wait to read more about him and his written works. His literary pieces speaks volumes about the Black experience.

For the Culture (Late Post)

I honestly can’t understand how so many people can go through life with their friends and social circles all the same color. How close-minded and insecure. I say insecure because most people have trouble connecting with someone of a different race other than them. They also lack confidence because it’s “safe” for them to surround themselves with their own.

I can’t tell you how many people have tried to “level” with me by talking about music. I always smile and converse back while being so glad I can easily relate and conversate with people on deeper matters other than music. 👀🤦🏾‍♀️🙄

When you have friends of different nationalities, it broadens your world. I love learning about different nationalities and their cultures because it’s so fascinating to me. African, Native American and Hispanic / Latin cultures are the biggest and most diverse cultures that exist. The history of the people, who they are, where they came from and how they came to be is both inspiring and enlighting.

So much has been used from these cultures in regards to inventions, music, food and entertainment just to name a few. 🌎🌏🌍 You can’t get such knowledge if all your friends are of the same color or nationality.

I challenge you to broaden your horizons and get to know people from a different ethnic background other than yours. Be confident in yourself and please, speaking as a person of color, steer clear of stereotypical topics. Anyone can discuss a superficial topic like music or food. To us people of color, just as an FYI, you come off as insecure and shallow when you choose to discuss stereotypical topics. Just saying…🤷🏾‍♀️

What a Character!

Many of you (who already read The Chronicles of Neffie) have expressed an extreme dislike for one particular character. This character (second to Sanderson) has triggered many readers. Who am I referring to? None other than Miss Reisa.

Tonight, I have narrowed down the top eight comments from readers who had no problems expressing how they felt about Miss Reisa.😂 I got a kick out of these! This author loves it so keep them coming!

1. “Ugh! I really hate this woman! She makes me sick to my stomach!”

2. “I wanna whoop her tail so bad!”

3. “Ohhh, that’s one low down DIRTY *expletive*!”

4. “OMG! I never met a woman so evil and cruel!”

5. “Can somebody please hurry up and get rid of her?!”

6. “Why is this woman still walking around breathing air?”

7. “Miss Reisa stressed me out so bad. She was tearing up my nerves!”

8. “Give me just two minutes with her! Two minutes please!”

Oh man, I have some of the best readers! Can’t you tell? If it’s one thing this author would like to say before ending this blog post, it’s this: Please also leave a review. As much as I enjoy hearing from you and adore your direct messages, it helps me as an author when you also leave a review. The more reviews the better. Thank YOU so much in advance. It means a lot! 🤗

So, have you downloaded / purchased your copy of The Chronicles of Neffie? If not, what are YOU waiting for? 🤷🏾‍♀️🤔

Until next time…

A Brief Hiatus

Good Evening Good People! I hope you had a wonderful day. Not only that, I hope you accomplished something great! This blogger is going on a brief hiatus, but I wanted to take a moment to say a few things. Don’t worry, I’ll be back. Plus, I have a hug coming at you in the end so keep reading.

The month of June has been really good to this unconventional writer. Although I didn’t blog about it, The Chronicles of Neffie ebook ranked #1 on Amazon in two categories twice last month. With that being said, I couldn’t really enjoy it because my beloved father wasn’t here to share in the excitement with me. Nevertheless, this independent writer, blogger and author is very grateful!

I can tell by the increasing number of downloads each day that more and more readers are hearing about The Chronicles of Neffie. Grateful and thankful is all I can say! I have some wonderful things I’m working on and will be taking part in which is why I’ll be on a brief hiatus. Some of it has to do with Neffie herself. 😉 🙃

Before I end this post, I want to encourage each of you to be the best you can be as you go after your dreams. Stay focused and always surround yourself with those who believe in you! Last but not least, I wanted to express a great deal of thanks to all those who purchased The Chronicles of Neffie. You have really helped me to grow the platform that I have worked hard to develop which in turn led to wonderful other things that I will share when the time is right.

Please stay safe out there and never allow anyone to damper your dreams or to make you feel like you aren’t good enough. Great things await you! All you have to do is go out there and get it!

Until next time, here’s a BIG Bear (((HUG))) from me to you!

Did you get it? Of course you did. I’ll see you back here in a few weeks.

Not Worthy of a Worry

What do I mean by that? I mean things that are of no concern to me. I do not like to waste my energy and precious time on matters that are pointless and of no importance. The years we are given are precious and limited (at the moment) and I refuse to waste mine away on trivial matters or by “chasing after the wind” so to speak.

I would not have accomplished some of the things I did if I had of consumed myself with worrying over things I have no control over. If something fails to work out, move on, but do not give up. If an opportunity you were seeking was not given to you, find a new opportunity. If you know you have the potential to do something absolutely wonderful and great, do not worry if others fail to see it. It is the ones that do see it that really matter. In that lies the real beauty…

Let It In

Happiness that is. Sometimes with our day to day life and responsibilities, we can become bogged down with unnecessary worries and stresses. It can be a challenge, I know, but if you make time and take the time to reflect on the priceless things that bring you happiness, you will be a much happier and healthier person in the end.

True, we all get stressed from time to time, but we have to be careful not to allow that stress to consume you or I. Focus on the things you currently have or have coming to you instead of becoming bitter or hardened at heart because of the things you did not receive or achieve. We can’t have everything and we can’t win all the time…

As I await for the month of June to arrive, my level of happiness has increased threefold. What kept me going in the past? I allowed happiness, resilience and determination to take root in my life. It is true, a positive mind leads to positive vibes and if you have that type of mindset, you cannot help but to let happiness in or shape you from within.

Until next time…
