Motivational Speaker in the House!

I’ve been invited to speak at an upcoming conference and I’m super excited. I’ve never been one to hold back on the things I’m passionate about. It’s not possible with me. Especially when speaking out against racism, prejudice and other injustices. Speaking up for those who are afraid to is what I do best. 🙌🏾

You have to understand one thing: I come from a family where I was raised to stand my ground and not only that, I was raised to NEVER allow anyone to muffle my voice when it comes to speaking up and speaking out. My friends have often said that one day I’m going to be known for my books and my speeches. I think they might be right. I just started taking advantage of such opportunities a little late in life. Better late than never.

Stand me in front of a crowd of people who need encouraging / motivated and I’ll show you a crowd of people who’ll leave with a new attitude on life. The world needs more people who aren’t afraid to lend their voice for the betterment of others. If this keeps up, I’m going to have to add motivational speaker to my list of skills. I’m all for it! 🤗😉

In a world where people try to make you feel guilty for speaking up or speaking out, I embrace it because I can handle it and then some….

Until next time…

How About That

Good morning! Good morning! I received a lot of love in regards to my past post entitled Respect the Bonnet and I wanted to say that it’s very much appreciated. I was just simply being me when I made that blog post. Bonnets aka head rags has been a staple in Black homes for years. To me, making that blog post was nothing new 🤷🏾‍♀️, but again, thank you.

It was nothing for my Mama, Grandmamas, Aunties, Great Aunties, my sisters and myself to throw a bonnet aka head rag on before heading to bed. It’s like automatic Lmbo! If I ever forget to put mine on before going to bed, which is extremely rare, make no mistake, I’ll jump out of that bed with the quickness and put it on! I ain’t lying. I can’t imagine my life without it.

I’ve had other minority women such as Latinas come out and say how they been wearing bonnets aka head rags for the last couple of years and love it. Who wouldn’t? I love putting my hair up in a bonnet aka head rag because I love how it feels on my head and how it keeps my hair off of me. I don’t care what anybody says, bonnets aka head rags are a lifesaver plus they’re cute.

The only thing I wished when it comes to bonnets aka head rags is that they would last much longer for the women with thick and long hair. That’s my only gripe. My cousin told me about a site called Before Bed Headz and I’m going to get my next bonnet aka head rag from them. They’re bigger than the ones I bought before and they’re super cute! 😍

Alright ya’ll, tell my favorite Black bonnet aka head rag to rest in peace. After tomorrow, I have to throw it way. 😢 I hate to do it, but I got to because it has a hole in the back where the elasticity has given away. Its been an awesome four months though, but its served its purpose. 😔✌🏾

Aye! Respect the bonnet okayyyy and don’t make me have to say it again either! ✋🏾👋🏾 Have a great weekend everyone and be safe!

Until next time…

Good morning and Happy Friday folks! Pat yourself on the back for making it to Friday. Five o’clock will be here before you know it so just keep that in mind. I penned another poem last night and I am posting it below. I love to write poems about my family and so last night I penned one about my ancestors. Enjoy!!!
