My Heart and My Soul

Good Evening, Happy Evening to you all! I hope to find that each of you are doing well. To my fellow writers, I hope that you have been busy writing that amazing story of yours. To my fellow poets, I hope that you have been busy writing your amazing collection of poems. The world needs it so please believe it.

Yours truly has been busy grinding behind the scenes as I anticipate my feature in a well-known, well-respected and highly regarded literary magazine this summer. I can not wait to share it with you! My heart and my soul gets fuller and fuller with each passing day and I cannot relay to you the amount of joy that I feel. Just to know that I was able to make this happen with some serious hard work or as my family likes to say, a little “elbow grease” gives me goose bumps.

I am about to be one busy little bee, but I do not mind because I am doing this for my family, myself and those closest to me who believed in me and continues to believe in me. When they see my face in this magazine (and many more to come because this ain’t it), I know there is going to be some tears shed and hugs being passed all around. Why? Because I told them that I was going to make this happen without spending thousands or tens of thousands of dollars and I did.

I am a grinder, that is what I do; I hope that each of you have a bit of grind and grit in you too! Who says you have to spend a lot of money to put yourself out there? Maybe for some, but if you have the drive, the determination, the grit and people who believe in you, you can do just about anything. All you have to do is try. If you fail a few times like I did, dust yourself off and try again. Failing is simply a part of life, but it makes you a stronger person in the end.

Until next time…

Good Evening everyone! I hope that you had a wonderful weekend. I know I did and as always, the weekend is never long enough. I penned a quick micro poem that I wanted to share with you tonight. May you be entertained and enjoy!

Until next time…

It’s Time For Another Short Story Rhyme!

I think it’s time for another short story rhyme so without further ado, here’s Leeotis!

His name was Leeotis.

He was an unfortunate pop-eyed fool.

Everywhere Leeotis went, he had a no holds barred attitude.

He liked to drink hard liquor and he loved to dip hard snuff.

When it came to lose tailed women, Leeotis just couldn’t get enough.

He was always such a handful and he was stubborn as all get out.

When Leeotis couldn’t get his way, he was known to sulk and pout.

Nobody really liked him; he was often seen as a pest.

Runnin’ his mouth and lyin’ was what Leeotis seemed to do best.

With a walking stick in one hand and a bottle of booze in the other.

When folks ‘round town saw him comin’, they’d run and duck for cover.

Leeotis was not all bad; there were a few good parts in him too.

If you ever needed a helping hand, Leeotis would be there for you.

He was tall, slim and good lookin’, yet his looks didn’t get him very far.

It’s hard to believe how such a dapper lookin’ man could be seen as so bizarre.

Leeotis was an odd man, he was unlike any other.

He was sorta like his dilapidated home; disheveled and full of clutter.

Despite his boorish ways, we do share the same skin.

If you haven’t caught onto my drift, that means that he’s my kin.

Until next time…

Suga is a short poem I penned tonight about one of my grandmother’s nieces. I come from a rhyming, wise-cracking family and we love coming up with hilarious rhymes about each other. It keeps us on our toes and of course, it keeps us laughing. Tonight, it’s my turn to get back at her so without further ado here’s Suga…..

Until next time…

Good morning and Happy Friday folks! Pat yourself on the back for making it to Friday. Five o’clock will be here before you know it so just keep that in mind. I penned another poem last night and I am posting it below. I love to write poems about my family and so last night I penned one about my ancestors. Enjoy!!!

Until next time…

I’ma Do It!

Hey! Hey! Hey! Long time no read and see, huh? I know it’s been a few days since I last posted, but I haven’t been feeling very well and on top of that, I’ve been trying to get my mind focused on writing my second novel. Just saying… This post will be short, brief and sweet so c’mon, let’s do this!

Last year, I started playing around with a few rhyming short stories and I ended up posting a few of them on my blog and on my Instagram. Well….somebody caught wind of it and encouraged me to enter a poetry humor contest. Of course, I had to check it out to make sure it was legit and it turns out that it is. Seeing how I’m a rhyming poet who loves to lace humor in my poetry, you know the poem I submitted was nothing less than that. You may be wondering, “What did you submit?” For that my dear subscribers and followers, you’ll have to wait and see until I get the “go ahead” since this is considered an unpublished work.

For what it’s worth, I can’t wait to share it with you. Let’s see if I can come close to winning another award, better yet, let’s see if I can finally win one! Oh yeah!!!!

Alright folks, we’re almost to Friday. Aim to make each day a great day and remember, you’re amazing, talented and one of a kind.

Until next time…

A Southern Poesy

You asked for more, so I am giving you more. I am so thrilled at the responses for my short story poems. I was just posting a few for fun, now I see there is a growing number of you who really enjoy them. I love it!! With that being said, here’s another one! Good nite folks!!

Until next time…
