Proud of My Poor Roots

Yes, you read my blog title right. BookingAnita is proud of her poor roots. Not too many people will admit that, but I’m one of the few who will. Before things got better for me and my family, things were really tough and I do mean tough. We had some rough patches for a time, but during those rough times, I learned some of life’s most important lessons. The biggest being on how to stretch a dollar and how to take care of the things I already have so they will last.

We were all raised to appreciate the little things and to see value in the smallest of things. When you can appreciate the littlest of things, your life takes on a whole new meaning when you are able to acquire the bigger things. Happiness for me (because we are all different) is collecting flowers, rocks or stones for jewelry. Happiness for me is sitting by a river and watching the ripples pass me by. Happiness for me is spending long hours at the beach collecting sea shells and looking for sand flowers. Yes happiness for me is simplicity.

Some people who come into money tend to look down on the very people they themselves once were. Others tend to forget where they came from. Me, I’ll never forget because that is an important part of me and my familial history. I’ve received many expensive gifts over the years and even now because the men who come from money think that such things will make me happy. I guess I can’t blame them because that’s probably how they were raised. Truth be told, it’s the gifts that don’t come with a hefty price tag that BookingAnita values the most. ❤️

Yes, BookingAnita grew up poor, but you know what? I’m not ashamed of it one bit because it has shaped me into the keen woman that I am and will forever be.

Until next time…

Hugs in my personal opinion can offer a measure of healing. They are therapeutic too. How many of us have ever felt down and the minute we got a hug from someone we love, we instantly felt better? I’m sure you yourself can recall several instances.

I come from a family where hugs are always given and I love that about my family. Our hugs aren’t those flimsy little light hugs. Pff! Those types of hugs you can keep to yourself. Our hugs are those hugs where when you hug a person, they can feel the love just by your embrace. I’m always surprised when people (who meet my family for the first time) express a level of shock at how my family hugs and kisses one another on the forehead. To me, to us, that is normal.

Hugs are one of life’s best free gifts and they are best given when you use both of your arms and hands. The next time someone you love or care about is feeling down or depressed, give them a hug and watch for the expression that rolls across their face. It’s heartwarming and beautiful.

Until next time, have a GREAT Monday everyone!

Focus on What Really Matters

Sometimes we can be too consumed about other people and what’s going on in their lives. If you ask me, that’s a frivolous waste of one’s time and I don’t like to waste my time. I’ve been accused of “not caring” at times, but I can tell you that’s not always the case. It’s just that I tend to focus more on my family, myself and my own business oppose to keeping up with someone else’s life or foolishness. If you worry yourself over things that are of no concern to you, you’ll miss out on all the other wonderful opportunities that are available to you. Don’t bog your mind and heart down with the affairs of others. You can be missing out on your own blessings and “come ups” because you are way too concerned about other people. Don’t do that to yourself.

Focus on what really matters and that is you, your family, your dreams and your aspirations. Everything that you are a part of or take part in might not be for you and that’s okay. Accept it and just know there is something much better out there for you. Trust me, this is coming from someone who is definitely speaking from experience. When you focus on you and what really matters, you will see your life and the meaning of life in a whole new light. Give it a try. I promise you you’ll like it. I take that back, you’ll LOVE it!

Until next time…

Let It In

Happiness that is. Sometimes with our day to day life and responsibilities, we can become bogged down with unnecessary worries and stresses. It can be a challenge, I know, but if you make time and take the time to reflect on the priceless things that bring you happiness, you will be a much happier and healthier person in the end.

True, we all get stressed from time to time, but we have to be careful not to allow that stress to consume you or I. Focus on the things you currently have or have coming to you instead of becoming bitter or hardened at heart because of the things you did not receive or achieve. We can’t have everything and we can’t win all the time…

As I await for the month of June to arrive, my level of happiness has increased threefold. What kept me going in the past? I allowed happiness, resilience and determination to take root in my life. It is true, a positive mind leads to positive vibes and if you have that type of mindset, you cannot help but to let happiness in or shape you from within.

Good Morning Sunshines!

Smiles are one of the best free gifts anyone can give. They are uplifting, upbuilding and encouraging. A welcoming smile can light up a room and change a mood. Your smile is beautiful, your smile is wonderful, your smile is amazing and so are you. Who will you touch with power of your smile?

Until next time…

Queen Teddy

How’s it going good people! I hope that all is well. I wanted to introduce you to a lady that is making waves on Instagram due to her vibrant personality and dance moves. Her name is Queen Teddy and she is a ray of sunshine! If you have ever come across her page or seen one of her Instagram posts, it’s easy to see why so many people are drawn to her. You can’t help but to smile when you see her.

If you are on Instagram, check Queen Teddy out here. Watch for her new friend in the background. He’s wearing a white shirt and gray pants. Too funny lol. This little kid is hilarious!

Coming from a family that loves to dance, Queen Teddy dances as if we could be some distant kin because our moves are just the same. It ain’t nothing for me to follow along to a good African beat. Dancing in itself just makes you feel good.

If you are ever feeling down, just bust a move. You can’t stay upset when you are dancing to music. Dance, smile and do your best to try and stay happy!

Here’s one more for you!

Until next time…

Appreciate the Little Things

You know? It’s the little things that often count the most. It’s the little things that often has the most impact. It’s the little things that often brings us so much joy. Yet many of us don’t seem to realize that. Some people think you have to spend a whole lotta money just to be happy. Dis-A-gree! If you have to spend money or think you have to spend a lot of money just to be happy, you may want to recheck your priorities and reexamine your own self.

Attaining happiness is not as hard as some make it seem. Some of us just have a habit of making it that way. Happiness is not that elusive. Trust me, it ain’t that hard to find. 😉
