Muffin Tops. SMH…

Good Evening! I hope everyone is doing well. I haven’t made a random post in a while, but since some of my family and friends are “on me” about a particular habit of mine, I thought I’d blog about it. They want to see if anyone else will be annoyed by this “habit” of mine. 😩

Let me start off by saying I can’t help it. This writer and blogger has her quirks and I’m not afraid to admit it.

Whenever this writer / blogger eats muffins, I only eat the top part of the muffin. Yes, I only eat the muffin top and throw the rest away. I’ve always done that because to me, the bottom part of the muffin is dry and not that sweet. πŸ€·πŸΎβ€β™€οΈπŸ’†πŸΎβ€β™€οΈ

Whenever I’m about to eat a muffin around certain family or friends, they’ll blurt out, “Nita don’t you do it. Don’t you dare do it.”, but I have to do it. I don’t like the bottoms of muffins. πŸ˜πŸ˜‚πŸ˜

The muffin top is the best part of the muffin in my opinion and it’s the only part of the muffin I will eat. If that annoys you, I’m sorry. 😲 If you are ever around me when I’m eating a muffin, look away because there’s a pretty good chance it’ll look a lot like this when I’m done. πŸ™ƒ

Until next time…

Amal Hussain-Repost

I came across something so hurtful and so disturbing the other day that I had to share it on all my blogs. For some reason or another, I had to post this twice due to an error with WordPress. As a human being with a heart, regardless of your economic status, racial status or social status, what are your thoughts on the following image? Viewer discretion is advised.

Did what you see break your heart? Did you feel some type of anger or pain? Where is the love for all of humanity? I can tell you it’s far, few and in-between. That image is truly heart-breaking and yet this happens each and every day to millions of children all around the world.

So many of us have no cause to complain. The things many of us complain about is so trivial compared to serious matters such as this. The next time you think about complaining, think of how fortunate you are compared to the millions of people suffering because of violence, war and poverty.

UnableΒ

I met a few of my friends for dinner at Wintzells to laugh and chit chat a bit. In the midst of our “cutting up”, one of my friends decides to order oysters. These weren’t just any oysters, but colossal oysters. At least, that’s how it looked to me. They were huge! As we were all laughing and talking, he decides to push three my way like I want some. Yuck! Oh no! I’m unable to eat that. The whole time he thought my looks of disgust were funny…

He had his topped with parmesean and some other stuff and was sopping it up like it was the best thing in the world! Everyone was looking and waiting for me to try them, but I wasn’t gonna do it. I’m unable to. I love seafood, but not oysters. They make my stomach churn and my bottom lip quiver. KMSL! I ain’t lying…oysters make me sick.

Um, I’ll take the shrimp, crab and lobster for $200 Alex! Thank you! πŸ˜‚

Until next time…Lmbo!!!

Well! Hmmph!Β

So, my friends and kin folk were cracking on me hard about being tight with my money. I admit it, for the most part I am. Always have been for as long as I can remember. For this writer, it’s not so much of me being stingy with my money, for me it’s all about my number one burning question, “Is it worth the money?”

I have three vices I will spend my money on. This includes:

1. Fine dining. I love going out to eat at nice restaurants with my family and friends. I will gladly spend money on a nice plate of delectable food and lush desserts. Any time other than that, it’s Taco Bell, McDonald’s, Popeye’s or Burger King when I’m too tired to cook. LMBO! If Popeye’s ain’t around, then I will settle for KFC. I don’t do Church’s Chicken unless it’s their honey butter biscuits! That’s all I’ll eat from there. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

2. Electronics. I’ve lost count how many smart TVs, iPods, mp3 players, tablets, computers and laptops I acquired over the years. I’ve also lost count how many I’ve actually given away. Geez Louise!

3. Clothes and shoes. Yasssssss! C’mon now! I always get so tickled when people see me outside of work dressed up. “OMG you look sooooooo different!” is what I always hear. Funny how letting my hair out, throwing on a little lip color and wearing a nice fitted outfit makes me looks sooooooo different. πŸ˜‚

Aye! What do you say? That ain’t too cheap now is it? Everyone has their own vices on what they choose to spend their money on, this is how I choose to spend mine. Spend your money how you wanna spend it. It ain’t nobody’s bidness but yours! To all my lovely kin folks and friends: Back back, back back and give me 50 feet!

I told y’all I would blog about it! Y’all are cuttin’ up! Just showin’ out! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Until next time…

Foodie Habits

Good Evening! How’s it going? I hope all is well on your end. I’m playing “catch up” with my emails so please be patient as I work my way through them. Tonight’s blog post is in response to several emails. Evidently, many of you found it humorous when I blogged about my fears, phobias and foods that I don’t like! KMSL!

Tonight, as requested, I will blog about my weird eating habits. Hey, what can I say? I’m imperfectly human and I’m not ashamed to admit it. Here it goes…

Foodie Habits in 3, 2, 1…

1. I like pot pies, but mainly the crust. I will eat the top part of the crust, a few bits of meat and dump out the rest. The bottom part of the crust is the best which is why I will always eat that last.

2. I like oatmeal cream pies, but only the outer edges. The rest I throw away. The center is too sweet. I know it’s a waste, but I can’t help it. SMH!

3. When I’m eating my favorite chips, I like to let the seasoning / flavor build up on my fingers so I can suck it off. It’s the best! I regret nothing!!!

4. I will only eat shrimp IF it is deveined. Before I order shrimp at a restaurant, I will always ask if they deveined their shrimp. Bookinganita ain’t finna eat that! That’s shrimp poo people! Y’all gone learn today…

5. I like to pour honey roasted peanuts in my Coke. You haven’t lived until you try this. Don’t blame me if you become addicted. You have been warned!

6. Speaking of Coke, I will only drink Coke. I don’t like Pepsi-Cola. It tastes like a flat Coke to me and it’s way too sweet for my liking. Ughhh…

7. I like hot dogs, but I will only eat them grilled. Adding to that, the hot dog has to be a beef hot dog. If I bite into a hot dog and it’s not a beef hot dog, I will immediately spit it out with no shame.

8. I love Good Humor brand strawberry shortcake ice cream bars! When I eat them, I have to eat the outer shortcake crumb coating first before I eat the strawberry center. Yes, that means I nibble all the crumb coating off until there is nothing left. LMBO!

Well, there you have it. As one amazing reader put it, “Your honesty is both refreshing and humorous.” This writer thanks you!

Until next time…

Baking and Books

Every now and again I’ll participate in a Facebook food challenge while doing a writing challenge. Seeing how I love to cook as much as I love to write, I’m doing the baked spaghetti challenge and posting it here. I had an idea of how I would want my baked spaghetti to be and ran with it. If you are looking for specific directions on how to make it, it ain’t here. Sorry. We cook by sight in my family. Measuring cups? What’s that?

Since I made this for the first time last Sunday, my friends and family have been worrying me to make it again and yes, I will. As for my upcoming novel, I can’t wait to post my teasers in the next coming weeks. The creative juices are just flowing!

Until next time…

Words and Good FoodΒ

It’s true you know? How they say sharing a good meal with those you love makes eating and life much more enjoyable. As I sit here reflecting on the laughs my family, friends and I shared over a good meal, it makes writing for me much more easier to come by. For some reason, and I’m not complaining, I always seem to write much better after I’ve cut up and got stuffed over a good meal I shared with my family and friends. Ha! I wish I had more writing days like this.

Seeing how I grew up in Florida, South Carolina and Alabama (my father was in the military), our meals are a colorful combination of different cultures, good ole country cookin’ and my personal favorite, seafood! Moving past all that, what I love the most about our dinners are the sharing of stories. Yesssssss, this lady loves to hear all about the different stories my family, myself and friends often share around the table. Let me tell you, I learn something new every time we sit down together to eat.

When I say that I never have to look far for inspiration, this is what I mean. That’s the beauty of writing. A good story can take shape or form from the simplest of things like sharing a good meal with your family and close friends. So what did you cook good today and what great stories did you hear or share? I made some sticky honey garlic shrimp with brown rice and garlic roasted veggies. As for my stories, you’ll have to wait a little on that. For what it’s worth, I can’t wait to share it with you.

Until next time.
