Why do I write?

I have been asked the question above quite a few times since I began writing my first novel and it may be a question you yourself might be interested in knowing. Every author has their own reason or reasons as to why they write. I write because I enjoy telling dramatic stories, but more than that I write because I like to challenge perspectives and views. Never one to tip toe around certain subjects, I enjoy writing stories that will spark a discussion or open up a cordial debate. What is the point of writing a book if no one is going to sit around and talk about it?

Who is A.L. Gibson?

You may be asking yourself who is A.L. Gibson? Well, I am a number of things. I am a daughter, a sister, an aunt and a friend, furthermore I am also a budding author. I have always enjoyed writing over the years, but it was never something I wanted to pursue fully until I took a chance last year to write my very first novel. At first, I was a little intimidated to take on the amount of work that goes into writing a novel, but as I started to delve into it I realized that I had a true passion for writing great stories. For me, I did not have to dig deep for a great story since I have so many people within my own family that I can draw inspiration from. However, I still wanted to come up with the perfect title, the perfect setting and the perfect character. After months of brainstorming, revising and editing I came up with the perfect debut novel Poka City Blues.

Poka City Blues is a novel that will pull and tug on just about every human emotion, but it is also a novel that will not disappoint. If you enjoy family sagas and drama then this is the book for you. Poka City Blues is about making the best out of a bad situation and overcoming insurmountable odds.

Stick around, Poka City Blues is coming soon.
