Why Should It Matter?

A few days ago Geoffrey Owens, known for playing Elvin on The Cosby Show, was spotted working at Trader Joe’s. Yes, you read right, he works at Trader Joe’s. My question is: Why should that even matter? The man is trying to make a living for his family so what’s wrong with that? SMH at the disgusting woman who tried to shame him by selling a picture she took of him without his consent.

What started out as an attempt to shame him, resulted in a world of support. Geoffrey has received encouragement from fans all across the world including celebrities who came to his defense. It just doesn’t make sense to make fun of someone who is trying to make a living the best way they can. If anything, it should garner respect.

People who make fun of an individual’s job, trade, pay or income are simpletons. Not only that, they lack morals, values, confidence and self-esteem. Those very same individuals behave in such a way in order to try and make themselves feel better about themselves. Pitiful. Don’t be like them.

Disgusting and Disturbing

Warning: This lenghty post contains strong opinions and views regarding the rampant racism, prejudice and attacks on innocent Black men, Black women and Black children. If you are easily offended or can’t handle the truth, stop reading now. If you aren’t a racist or prejudiced individual, then my post shouldn’t bother you. This post is for the innocent Black men, Black women and Black children who have been targeted for hate just because they are Black.

As a Black woman and a person of color, I’m disgusted by all the reports and videos showing innocent Black people being called the N-word by racist and prejudiced White people. Some have had that word hurled at them as they were walking down the street, sitting on their own property, in shopping centers and now, we have racist and prejudiced White people chasing and following Black people in their cars just to call them the N-word. How crazy is that?

Thank goodness for social media because if it didn’t exist, hardly anyone would believe it. I lost count of all the videos exposing such disgusting behavior because several new ones pop up every day. It’s bad that innocent Black people have to be ready to pull out their phone to record such sub-human behavior in order to be believed or taken seriously. You know it’s bad when you have White celebrities calling out the rampant racism and prejudice that is being shown in high numbers amongst racist and prejudiced White people.

Before anyone who is delusional enough to say Black people do this to White people on a grand scale or equal scale, you better check your history and statistics. The legit and reputable statistics that is. The numbers don’t lie. Ask yourself the following questions regarding this day in age:

1. How many Black people have called the cops on White people for barbecuing or gathering in a public place where it is allowed?

2. How many Black people have called the cops on White people for selling goods such as water or lemonade on their own property?

3. How many videos have been posted to show Black people hurling racial epithets at White people as they are walking down the street, shopping, while driving in their car or stopped at a traffic light?

4. How many Black people have called the cops on White people just so the cops can verify that they live in the same nice neighborhood as them?

5. How many little White boys compared to Black boys had the cops called on them for playing with a BB gun, toy gun or water gun because Black people felt “threatened” by them?

Ridiculous! Then these exposed individuals want to cry and apologize for their actions after being terminated from their jobs. Why are you crying now? You wasn’t doing all that when you were foaming at the mouth with your hate. This week, a Georgia University girl slipped up and called her Black roommate N*ggerish. The kicker? She meant to send it to her friend, but accidentally sent it to her instead. When she realized what she had done, she lied and said she typed triggerish, but her phone changed it to N*ggerish. So phones are being racist now too?

The last time I checked, this isn’t the era of slavery and not only that, Black people have a voice now. A voice that is growing stronger each and every day. I will never, ever let anyone make me feel inferior whether it has to do with my skin color, education, social status or socioeconomic status. You can try to make me feel inferior or bothered, but I’ll never feel inferior towards anyone. I DON’T CARE who you are. Not gonna happen, NEVER WILL IT HAPPEN.

Let me say this one final thing before I end this post: I will never walk in fear because I refuse to walk in fear. There are TWO things I can honestly say that strikes fear in me and that is God first and foremost and second to Him is my parents. As far as anyone else? Please. Go take a number and sit down somewhere.

Until next time, treat everyone you encounter with love, decency and respect. Your color doesn’t make you any better than the next person.

Lesandro Guzman Feliz

If you have been watching the news lately, you have probably heard the terrible tragedy surrounding Lesandro Guzman Feliz. Known as ‘Junior’ to his family and friends, this beautiful fifteen year old lost his life because five disgusting, low-life excuses for men attacked him. Why? Because they mistook him for another individual who made a sex tape of one of the suspects sister. Did you catch that? They were going to kill someone any way over a sex tape!

What angers me the most about this tragedy is how no one helped this poor fifteen year old who was first attacked in a Bronx Bodega, dragged outside where he was attacked some more, stabbed and hacked with a machete! The video is circulating around the internet and I refuse to watch it because the video stills of Lesandro’s face riddled with fear shook me to my core. It broke my heart in more ways than one just thinking about how confused Lesandro must have been as all this was taking place. This beautiful child only went to the Bodega to give one of his friends five dollars so he could get him something to eat. That right there does something to me. It does more than just break my heart…

I was glued to the reports as one suspect after another was caught and I wouldn’t be satisfied until all five were caught. Today that finally happened. One of these pathetic, scum filled excuses for a human being was turned in by his own mother. Good! Because I would have done the same thing. If that had of been me or one of my other siblings who did something so vile, my parents would have turned us in with the quickness before beating the mess out of us. My parents don’t play! Take a look at these heartless suspects.

I pray, as I’m sure millions of others are, that some sort of peace will fill the hearts of Lesandro’s family now that all five suspects have been caught. Especially his heart-broken mother. I know it won’t bring him back, but at least she can see the outrage that was shared along with her and how the public went above and beyond to help the police capture her son’s killers so they can be brought to justice. As far as I’m concerned, throw the book at them. They are nothing but pieces of sub-human filth to do something so hateful, vicious and disgusting! Garbage, pure garbage is what they are. Lesandro didn’t deserve what happened to him nor does anyone else.

Over a Drink

I’m about to blog about some shameful foolishness. Are you ready? Of course you are because you know I’m going to post a link to the article. Let’s do this!

A Staten Island woman between the age of 18-25 threw a wild tantrum in a fast food restaurant. Why? Because her Popeye’s meal didn’t come with a drink! What kind of foolishness is that? Soooooooo because you didn’t have enough money to get a combo with a drink you smash a chair through a window?! Whose fault is that?

If that’s all you had enough money for you should’ve taken it! Look for a vending machine and get yourself a canned soda or pay 25¢ for some water! Some fast food restaurants will give you water for free! You think you’re the only one who didn’t have enough money for a meal at one point in time?! You can’t have it your way all the time and not every restaurant is going to give you something for FREE!

I hope they find this sorry excuse of a woman who flipped out because her meal didn’t come with a drink. Outrageous!

When they find her, she’ll be out more than $4 and some change by the time they’re finished with her. How foolish to react in such a way just because your meal didn’t come with a drink! Now you’re gonna have to pay more than that when they find you. Read this foolishness my cousin sent me here.

Dante Daniels

You see that name? I never heard of that name, that is until I took a break from editing and formatting my second novel this evening.

Dante Daniels was an eight year old boy murdered this month by his mother’s ex-boyfriend DeAndre Chaney, Jr. Why was he murdered? Because he stepped in to try and stop his seven year old sister from being molested. Dante was beaten from the head all the way down to his spine with a hammer just for trying to stop his sister from being molested. How evil and disgusting! What bothers me the most is that the mother KNEW how the ex-boyfriend was and she STILL asked him to watch her kids while she took her brother to work. Outrageous!

Once she returned home, she heard screaming and crying. When she went to see what was wrong, she was then beaten with a hammer too. This tragic situation could have been avoided and it has a community in California outraged. This precious little boy shouldn’t have lost his life for trying to protect his little sister. He was just trying to do the right thing. 😢

DeAndre, as far as I am concerned, is what my late paternal Grandma would call subhuman filth!

Hines Ward

Hines Ward is a former NFL wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is of African American and Korean descent. I recently watched a documentary about him and after watching it, I felt compelled to blog about it. Hines admitted that when he was younger, he was ashamed of his mother because she is Korean and couldn’t speak English. For years he hid the fact that his mother is Korean and he would often duck, run or hide to keep his friends from seeing his mother.

Hines goes on to tell that his mother worked four low paying jobs in order to support them and put food on the table, but despite all that he was still ashamed of her. What was the pivotal turning point in his life that made him change? One day, after his mother dropped him off from school, he decided to look back at her as he ran away. Hines, with tears in his eyes, recalled how he saw her crying. He knew that she knew he was ashamed of her.

I can only imagine the hurt she must have felt all those years knowing that her son was ashamed of her. Hines stated that at that moment, he would never ever make his mother cry again or be ashamed of who he is. He began to take pride in who he is, his mother and her hard working ethic. Ashamed? Not any more.

Hines credits his mother for his success, drive and is quick to point out how grateful and thankful he is to have her as his mother. His father was never really apart of his life so he has nothing to do with him at all. He built his mother two large homes, sends her on frequent trips and takes care of her expenses. Even still, his mother chooses to work at a school cafeteria just to stay busy. His mother has such a sweet spirit and when you see her, you immediately just want to hug her.

I’m so glad that Hines Ward is no longer ashamed of his mother and has made peace with both his mother and himself. I love watching documentaries that end on a positive note. It always makes my day.
