Aware

Good Evening! I’m back with another six words or less of inspiration. Are you ready? Of course you are. Let’s go!

Be careful of who you trust or share information with. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen other people get hurt because they were too “trusting.” You can learn so much about a person just by watching them and observing them. Some people are meant to be kept at a distance. All you have to do is silently observe. A person’s character is like pregnancy, it can’t be hidden for long.

So be kind towards all, but don’t be so free and open to all. Some folks don’t mean you any good.

Until next time…

Good Riddance

Whoo! Those faux locs are gone! Outta here! Gone bye bye! Buh Bye!

Let me tell you, I don’t miss ’em one bit! My scalp was about to suffocate! I thought I was going to pass out once I felt that cool air hit my scalp again KMSL! My hair has been showing out and growing like weeds again. Especially the front crown of my hair. That’s where its really wavy and no matter how much I trim it back or brush it back, it just keeps coming back.

It’s nice seeing you again my lovely bouquet of tresses. The kinky, the wavy, the curly and the straight. Each one of you represents a part of my ancestry. Although there are times where I wished I had just ONE texture instead of four. It would make my life so much easier. Just being honest…

Until next time…wear your hair how you wanna wear it. Just make sure you wear it proudly!

Alice Barker

Alice Barker was a 103 year old African American Harlem Renaissance dancer who captured the heart of millions in 2015. What made her an instant internet sensation was her reaction to seeing old videos of herself dancing in “soundies” back in the day. She had never seen videos of herself dancing before and when she saw herself for the first time, the world fell in love with her priceless reaction. I loved how sassy and witty she was and of course, who can forget her saying: “It don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing.”

Alice Barker was a beautiful woman as you will see in the photo below. She’s the third one from the left.  I can’t help but to smile when I look at Alice Barker and I’ll give you two reasons why. One, I loved her positive attitude and warm humble spirit. Two, she looks so much like my Paternal Great Aunt Lula who happens to be my late Paternal Grandmother’s baby sister. She is close to pushing 100 years old and my Aunt Lula is the most active 90 something year old I have ever met!

Until next time…

Oddities

Happy Sunday to you all! If you’re like me, you’re probably trying to get your head right for Monday. Mondays be having me like…

Moving past all that (LOL), I was tasked to list any odd behaviors that I have. Truth be told, we all have some sort of odd behavior or two and I don’t mind sharing mine since I only have four. If you have more than four or less than four, no need to be ashamed. We’re human, we’re imperfect and contrary to what some folks may think, there are odd behaviors in ALL of us. Nobody’s perfect.

Odd behaviors in 3, 2, 1…

1. When people sneeze or cough around me, I hold my breath for 10 seconds because I don’t want to inhale their cough or sneeze in LMBO! 😂

2. If one of my fingernails break, I have to trim the rest of my nails to be the same length. I can’t stand seeing uneven nails on my hands. It irks the mess outta me.

3. When I laugh really hard, I cry and I have to hit or bang on something whether it’s the table in front of me or my lap. I can’t sit still when I  laugh for some reason KMSL!

4. Whenever I eat seafood at a restaurant, I have to smell every bite before I eat it ROTFLMBO! I had a bad case of food poisoning when I was younger. I had the unfortunate experience of eating old fish!  Hammercy!

So, there you have it. Bookinganita is perfectly imperfect.

Until next time…

Chile, Please…

OK, listen up. So I signed up to do a crotchet faux locs challenge and let me tell you, this writer is about to throw in her towel LOL! You have no idea. It’s been rough. Don’t get me wrong, I love wearing styles that will give me a break from doing my own hair, but this has been more of a nuisance than anything. Why? Because my own hair is so THICK! Omgosh! My scalp is always hot because all of my THICK hair is braided down to my scalp and these faux locs are crocheted in it. Hammercy! My scalp is not used to this. Oh uh uh…

Ahhhhhhh, I’m going to keep them in for another week, but after that…that’s it! Enough is enough! My Goodness! Maybe if I didn’t have such thick hair it would be alright, but I’m ready to take these thangs out now! ASAP! Like PRONTO! My hair has been growing like weeds again and I need my scalp to be open and free so it can breathe! My poor little cocoa brown scalp has to deal with this foolishness for one more week. My hair is just beggin’ to be Free! One more week Chile, one more week. Let me pretend to be all smiles as I post the same pic I did just the other day. Except on this one, I’ll just use a filter so it won’t seem too bad. LMBO! 😂😂😂

Until next time…
