Claudine is a 1974 African American romance comedy and drama starring Diahann Carroll and James Earl Jones. It’s a movie about a Black woman who finds love while trying to raise her six kids in Harlem, New York. The cast is dynamic and the acting by Diahann Carroll and James Earl Jones is simply spectacular. Diahann Carroll was actually nominated for an Oscar for her role in Claudine.
What I liked the most about this movie was the soundtrack. Each song went well with each scene it played out in. Seeing how the soundtrack was composed by the late Curtis Mayfield and performed by Gladys Knight and the Pips, it’s not much of surprise. I’m going to share two of my favorite songs from the motion picture soundtrack in just a few.
If you have never seen Claudine, you are missing out. This movie is one of those movies that will stay with you long after you watched it. Check it out when you have the time.
