Proud of My Poor Roots

Yes, you read my blog title right. BookingAnita is proud of her poor roots. Not too many people will admit that, but I’m one of the few who will. Before things got better for me and my family, things were really tough and I do mean tough. We had some rough patches for a time, but during those rough times, I learned some of life’s most important lessons. The biggest being on how to stretch a dollar and how to take care of the things I already have so they will last.

We were all raised to appreciate the little things and to see value in the smallest of things. When you can appreciate the littlest of things, your life takes on a whole new meaning when you are able to acquire the bigger things. Happiness for me (because we are all different) is collecting flowers, rocks or stones for jewelry. Happiness for me is sitting by a river and watching the ripples pass me by. Happiness for me is spending long hours at the beach collecting sea shells and looking for sand flowers. Yes happiness for me is simplicity.

Some people who come into money tend to look down on the very people they themselves once were. Others tend to forget where they came from. Me, I’ll never forget because that is an important part of me and my familial history. I’ve received many expensive gifts over the years and even now because the men who come from money think that such things will make me happy. I guess I can’t blame them because that’s probably how they were raised. Truth be told, it’s the gifts that don’t come with a hefty price tag that BookingAnita values the most. ❤️

Yes, BookingAnita grew up poor, but you know what? I’m not ashamed of it one bit because it has shaped me into the keen woman that I am and will forever be.

Until next time…
