Negative Reader Reviews

In the world of writing, you have to have thick skin. Readers can be brutally honest and to me, I would think every writer / author would want it that way. I’m not a sugar coater and I don’t want readers of my books to be sugar coaters either. I’ve seen some writers / authors get upset about a reader leaving a less than positive review. Why? It’s their opinion. πŸ€”

If you have more positive reviews and more positive feedback from readers, why are you getting bent out of shape over a few negative reviews? Readers DON’T have to like your book or my book. In the world of writing, if a bad review isn’t sprinkled here or there, it’s highly suspicious anyway. Read any literary journal. Books with nothing but glowing reviews are “suspect” because that’s a tell-tell sign that an author is paying readers to leave positive reviews. I’ve seen my fair share exposed. πŸ‘€πŸ˜―

Yes, it sucks when a reader leaves a bad review, but it’s not the end of the world. At the end of the day, they have a right to their opinion so don’t take it too personal. Some of the most award winning books have one and two star reviews. It’s OKAY if you receive a few bad reviews. You’ll survive. I promise. πŸ‘ŒπŸΎ

Until next time…
