I’m back, but only for a minute. I was tasked to blog about this a few weeks ago and forgot. Let’s do this! 👊🏾
Respect the bonnet! The hair bonnet that is. Depending on where you’re from, some folks call it a bonnet and others call it a head rag. In my family, we use both terms. For my non-Black readers, a bonnet or head rag is a satin cap that most Black women wear at night to protect our hair from breakage.
What I can’t understand is why some people try to humiliate, make fun or bash Black women for wearing them. I, like so many other Black women, take pride in my hair and it’s length. Not only that, it keeps all my hair off of me. This is how my bonnet aka head rag looks after I’ve stuffed all my hair in it.
Hammercy! I don’t like to sweat while I’m sleeping. I mean really? Who likes to sweat while they’re sleeping? I wear my bonnet faithfully because I don’t want all my hair sprawled around me making me hot!🌡🔥Whew Chile! 😩
Other races of women are now starting to wear bonnets aka head rags too because they realize how much it benefits their hair. Tami Roman from the show Basketball Wives has her own Instagram page entitled Official Bonnet Chronicles. Her page has actually led to an increase of non-Black women buying hair bonnets!
This Black woman looks good in hers! I’ll always rock my bonnet aka head rag. I have several with designs on them and in different colors too. 🙃😏😜 Don’t @ me! ✋🏾✌🏾👋🏾
Until next time…see you back here in another week and a half. Stay good people! 😉
