No Going Back

I was recently asked if I’ve been having doubts about releasing The Chronicles of Neffie to the public. I know this question was asked for two reasons. One, because of the sensitive subject matter of slavery and two, the possible number of readers who may be affected by some of the scenes in The Chronicles of Neffie. If you have been following my blog for some time, then you know my answer to that question is No.

Here’s the thing:

Slavery was no walk in the park nor was it a cake walk. Slavery was harsh, cruel and unrelenting. With that being said, what would make one think that a story about my Great, Great Grandmother’s life as a slave would be anything but that? Slavery was not a privilege nor was it fun! Slavery was nothing but a great depression full of endless pain for millions of slaves. Telling a story that reflects the opposite of that would be a waste of my time.

I’m speaking for those who can no longer speak for themselves, so it would be only right to just “tell it like it is.” Like millions of other African-Americans, my ancestors had to put up with a lot and I refuse to water down the things they had to go through. Nope, this writer is NOT going to do that. The Chronicles of Neffie is coming soon…

Until next time…
