A Partial Victory

Good Evening! Thursday is almost here. Guess what day is after Thursday? You got it,  Friday or as I and many others like to call it, Friyay!

I come to you tonight to post what I like to call a “partial victory.” For those of you who are new to my blog, I’ve been pushing myself to get my next upcoming novel finished while my father who is battling advanced lung cancer is still alive to see it. The good news? I’ve finished it, edited it and formatted my upcoming novel. Now I’m about to send it off for literary reviews. The bad news? I didn’t like my book cover. It is what it is. Am I disappointed? Yes. Am I giving up? Nah, not even close! 😉

We’ve all heard the saying, “Never judge a book by its cover.” Well, in the world of writing, a book IS judged by its cover. If my name is tied to something, I want it to be better than good. I’m not making the same mistakes I did with my first novel. This time, I’m doing things much differently. When you know better, you can do better and I’m doing a lot better. That’s all I’ll say for now…

Something tells me that this time around, my cover is going to be pretty awesome. You want to know how I know? Because I’m going to stay out of it this time LOL! I’m going to leave it to the pros and stay in MY lane this time around. The designer I’m working with has a very good reputation in the literary business and is well known in book industry. She has a long history in something that I just tapped into a little over three years ago. Chile, Anita if you don’t go sit yourself down somewhere! KMSL…

Am I protective of my next novel? Yes, but I believe that I’m in good hands. I’ve stated my vision and now I’m not going to interfere. This is MY journey and you have been invited to come along for the ride. I’ve accomplished the biggest thing I set out to accomplish and that’s completing, editing and formatting my upcoming novel while my father is still here to see it. When I take all of that into account, how can I not be grateful and thankful about that? 💪❤️😊

Until next time…

  1. That is quite an accomplishment. I have never written a novel but I do know it takes a lot of work. It will be very cool to see your novel out in stores. I will be interested in seeing what it is that you wrote about.

  2. Congrats on finishing your book and good luck deciding on the cover. One of my friends just penned a book and finalizing the cover proved to be quite a task. So many choices even though the designs were all similar there were small nuances which made them slightly different.
