If you have a story you want to tell, go on and pen it. It has been said that writing can be a bit tricky at times because you have to know what subjects to write about and which subjects to steer clear from. I do not necessarily agree with that notion because to me, that creates borders around a writer’s creativity. A good story in my opinion aims at the heart and mind of a reader so they can connect at all levels with the story that lies in the palm of their hands. To do that, you may have to step out of the “safe zone.”
I will admit, it can be challenging at times to decipher what tough subject to write about and how to write it. The last thing you want to do is offend a reader, but at the same time you do want the reader to “get the point” so to speak. To write a good story, you should not feel like you have to “tip toe” around certain areas or topics. Otherwise, why would you even bother to write? Writing for me involves writing about what moves me. Yes, I want you to laugh, cry and even get mad about the things I write, but at the same time, I want you to be moved and even challenged by the things I write.
Penning a good story is not done solely to entertain a reader, but to also educate the reader in areas they may have little to no knowledge of. So go on, pen that amazing story of yours and write like there is no tomorrow! You and your future readers will be glad you did.
Until next time…
